Scripture

Cántico de ascenso gradual; de David.

124 Si el Señor no hubiera estado a nuestro favor,
—diga ahora Israel—
si el Señor no hubiera estado a nuestro favor
cuando los hombres se levantaron contra nosotros,
vivos nos hubieran tragado entonces
cuando su ira se encendió contra nosotros;

Nuestra alma ha escapado cual ave del lazo de los cazadores;
el lazo se rompió y nosotros escapamos.
Nuestro socorro está en el nombre del Señor,
que hizo los cielos y la tierra.

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—
    let Israel now say—
if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
    when people rose up against us,
then they would have swallowed us up alive,
    when their anger was kindled against us;
then the flood would have swept us away,
    the torrent would have gone over us;
then over us would have gone
    the raging waters.

Blessed be the Lord,
    who has not given us
    as prey to their teeth!
We have escaped like a bird
    from the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken,
    and we have escaped!

Our help is in the name of the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,
23and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and
to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made
perfect, 24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the
sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
