Songs

Dark and cheerless is the morn
Without Your hand to comfort me
Joy-less is the day’s return
‘Til Your mercy’s beams I see
‘Til they inward light impart,
Glad my eyes and warm my heart

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
You are the true, the only Light
Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Triumph over shades of night
You are the Light, You are the Light

Visit, then, this soul of mine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief
Fill me, Radiancy Di-vine,
Scatter all my unbelief
More and more Yourself display,
Shining to the perfect day

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
You are the true, the only Light
Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Triumph over shades of night
You are the Light, You are the Light

Dayspring from on high, be near
Daystar, in my heart appear.

O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace

My gracious Master and my God
Assist me to proclaim
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Thy Name

O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues to sing

Jesus the Name that charms our fears
That bids our sorrows cease
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears
‘Tis life and health and peace

He breaks the power of canceled sin
He sets the prisoner free
His blood can make the foulest clean
His blood availed for me

O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues to sing

He speaks, and listening to His voice
New life the dead receive
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice
The humble poor believe

Hear Him ye deaf, His praise ye dumb
Your loosened tongues employ
Ye blind, behold your Savior comes
And leap, ye lame, for joy

O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues (women echo)
O for a thousand tongues to sing

From the depths of woe I raise to Thee The voice of lamentation;
Lord, turn a gracious ear to me And hear my supplication;
If Thou iniquities dost mark, Our secret sins and misdeeds dark,
O who shall stand be-fore Thee?
(Who shall stand be-fore Thee?)

To wash away the crimson stain, Grace, grace alone availeth;
Our works, alas! Are all in vain; In much the best life faileth;
No man can glory in Thy sight, All must alike confess Thy might,
And live a-lone by mercy
(Live alone by mercy)

There-fore my trust is in the Lord, And not in mine own merit;
On Him my soul shall rest, His word Up-holds my fainting  spirit;
His promised mercy is my fort, My comfort and my sweet support;
I wait for it with patience
(Wait for it with patience)

What though I wait the live-long night, And ’til the dawn appeareth,
My heart still trusteth in His might; It doubteth not nor feareth;
Do thus, O ye of Israel’s seed, Ye of the Spirit born indeed;
And wait ’til God a-ppeareth
(Wait ’til God a-ppeareth)

Though great our sins and sore our woes His grace much more aboundeth;
His helping love no limit knows, Our upmost need it soundeth.
Our Shepherd good and true is He, Who will at last His Israel free
From all their sin and sorrow
(All their sin and sorrow)  3x

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing, this my plea;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Scripture

A Song of Ascents.

 “Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”—
    let Israel now say—
“Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth,
    yet they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed upon my back;
    they made long their furrows.”
The Lord is righteous;
    he has cut the cords of the wicked.
May all who hate Zion
    be put to shame and turned backward!
Let them be like the grass on the housetops,
    which withers before it grows up,
with which the reaper does not fill his hand
    nor the binder of sheaves his arms,
nor do those who pass by say,
    “The blessing of the Lord be upon you!
    We bless you in the name of the Lord!”

1-4
“They’ve kicked me around ever since I was young”
    —this is how Israel tells it—
“They’ve kicked me around ever since I was young,
    but they never could keep me down.
Their plowmen plowed long furrows
    up and down my back;
But God wouldn’t put up with it,
    he sticks with us.
Then God ripped the harnesses
    of the evil plowmen to shreds.”

5-8 Oh, let all those who hate Zion
    grovel in humiliation;
Let them be like grass in shallow ground
    that withers before the harvest,
Before the farmhands can gather it in,
    the harvesters get in the crop,
Before the neighbors have a chance to call out,
    “Congratulations on your wonderful crop!
    We bless you in God’s name!”

Muchas veces me han perseguido desde mi juventud,
—diga ahora Israel—
muchas veces me han perseguido desde mi juventud,
pero no han prevalecido contra mí.
Sobre mis espaldas araron los aradores;
alargaron sus surcos.
El Señor es justo;

La bendición del Señor sea sobre vosotros;
os bendecimos en el nombre del Señor.
